JOSTechnik – Poultry House Butler PHB2

Automatic poultry butler with control for flaps , control for heating and ventilation, day and weekend programme or two closing and opening times per day as well as control of the lighting with simulation of sunrise and sunset for an optimal light supply for the poultry. This is especially important in winter on days with little daylight.

The functions are triggered by data from sensors for light, temperature and humidity as well as a timer. Numerous combinations of these data allow a wide range of setting options for controlling the house technology.

Real emergency stop or emergency opening function:

Should an animal be under the slider during the closing process, the motor is automatically stopped and the flap is immediately opened again. The closing process is repeated several times automatically. No animal has to free itself under the resting load of the flap, as is so common with all other manufacturers!

Optional direct connection options:

Connection for external remote display of flap status ( OPEN or CLOSED). Outdoor light sensor. (If PHB2 is installed indoors, an external outdoor light sensor is required). Attraction light 12V, up to 12W Fan (to bring in fresh air or vice versa to exhaust stale air) Radio remote control for flap control and light External temperature sensor External humidity sensor GSM module for smartphone (via APP for Android). Extra SIM card required. Connection module for control of 230V consumers.

The Poultry House Buttler PHB2 can be purchased as a stand-alone unit, as a frame unit or as a set with our different sized flaps, with or without self-locking to protect against predators.

Mounting instructions:

Never operate the damper actuator without the weight attached. Except for ready-assembled frame units from JOSTechnik, you always need an additional connecting cable. Never attach the nut on the pull cable directly to the flap or slide.

Multitalent PHB2

Compatible with all JOSTechnik flaps

The PHB2 can work with all JOSTechnik dampers. Also for dampers with self-locking. Choose from the different sizes with or without self-locking (SV).

Due to the manufacturing process, there may be slight scratches on the aluminium parts of the flaps, which do not impair the functionality and therefore do not represent a defect!

The PHB2 has a multi-line display that can be used to change all settings via a multi-language menu at the touch of a button. The following settings are possible and can be changed:

Solo, frame or set with separate power supply

PHB2 Solo

The PHB2 solo device can be combined with all conventional sliders / flaps up to max. 2kg weight / tractive force. Automatically open and close barn doors. Control an attraction light, fan, heating or complete light simulations with sunrise and sunset.

A connecting rope between the flap actuator and the flap is not included in the scope of delivery.

PHB2 Frame unit with self-locking mechanism

PHB2 frame unit are completely prepared for commissioning. Attach the set to the 4 fastening points in the frame in front of the barn entrance. Supply with voltage and you are ready to go. The flap is preset to open at approx. 7 a.m. at dusk and to close at approx. 7 p.m. or at dusk.

Main function of the light control

Provision of the optimum amount of light depending on the current daylight duration:

The light control automatically switches on the barn lighting at a time you can set and dims the light from 0% to 100% (sunrise) within a preset time.The barn lighting is automatically switched off when the associated light sensor detects a presettable outdoor brightness.If the outdoor light brightness is already reached before dimming begins (summer), the dimming process is not started.In the evening, the barn lighting is automatically switched on by the associated light sensor.Depending on a time you can set, the dimming process starts from 100% to 0% (sunset).Afterwards, the lighting is switched off completely at the set time.Here, too, the light control only becomes active when the outdoor brightness falls below a preset level (in summer, the dimming process is not carried out most of the time).

Temperature sensor & connection options

There is a temperature sensor in the PHB2 that measures the temperature of the environment and can thus trigger various switching operations:

When used with an indoor temperature sensor, an electric heating lamp can be switched on (if the stable temperature is too low) or a fan can be switched on for 12V DC for max. 5 hours.For 230V accessories, an additional circuit breaker for mains voltage is required in a separate housing.When used with an outdoor temperature sensor, the opening of the flap can be delayed or prevented at low outdoor temperatures.

More connection options

Non-dimmable 230 V lighting as so-called attraction light, heating or fan can be connected and switched using connection modules. The opening of the flap can be prevented or delayed at low outside temperatures; for this purpose, a temperature sensor is available in the unit or can be connected externally.
